Pandit Sundarlal Sharma Open University (PSSOU) was started in 2005 by the Government of Chhattisgarh. It is named after a famous freedom fighter, Pt. Sundarlal Sharma. Pandit Sundarlal Sharma Open University (PSSOU) is a state open university, and this University is approved by the UGC (University Grants Commission). The university offers distance learning courses in many disciplines. Their main motive is to make education easy for all to access, flexible, and affordable for everyone, especially for those students who cannot afford regular classes because of financial, social, and geographical problems.

Pandit Sundarlal Sharma Open University (PSSOU) has started the admission process for the July session on 01 July 2025. The university offers these courses for students in different streams such as Humanities, Science, Commerce, Education, Technology, and Management disciplines. The university provides general and professional courses in bilingual languages (depending on the course). Most courses are given based on your previous marks (merit-based). But for some courses like BEd, DElEd, and PhD, it’s compulsory to give an entrance exam.

PSSOU UG Admissions 2025-26
Pandit Sundarlal Sharma Open University provides a variety of undergraduate programs, including BA, BCom, BSc, BBA, and BLIS with multiple specializations such as Hindi, English, History, Mathematics, and Life Sciences. The ug courses of the university have an average duration of 3 to 4 years (1 year for BLIS). Students must have passed their 12th grade (10+2) from a recognized board to enroll in them. The average annual fees for these courses are between ₹4,300-₹6,700. Most courses are taught in Hindi, except BBA, which is taught in English. The admission to all UG courses is merit-based, and applicants will be selected based on their performance in the qualifying degree.

PSSOU PG Admissions 2025-26
The university will soon invite applications for its Postgraduate (PG) programs for the academic year 2025-26. These courses are for students who have already completed their graduation and want to study further in their chosen field. The popular courses of the university are MA, MCom, MSc, MLIS, MBA, MEd in various electives (Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Political Science, Sociology) & specializations.
These courses have min 2 years of duration and a maximum of 4 years to complete. While MLIS can be completed in only 1 year. The average annual fees for PG courses are between ₹7,200-₹27,500. Classes are held in Hindi, Sanskrit, or English, depending on the course.
PPSOU admission to PG courses is merit-based for the majority of courses, except for MBA & MEd, entrance test is compulsory to enroll in these two courses. The application form will soon be released for the postgraduate courses online on the university’s official website.

PSSOU B.Ed. Admission 2025-26
A 3-year-long Bachelor of Education (BEd) degree is also offered by Pandit Sundarlal Sharma Open University in ODL learning mode. This course is for students who want to become trained teachers for primary and secondary schools. The program has only 500 seats and is managed under the Faculty of Education.
The PSSOU BEd admission is closed on 12 June 2025 for the academic session 2025-26. Candidates who want to enroll in this course can register for the entrance test from the official website https://pssou.net/portal/. The selection is entrance-based for the B.Ed. programme and it is conducted by the university with a detailed schedule, syllabus, and exam pattern available on the official PSSOU website.
Students must have completed DLEED in regular mode or any teacher education programme organised by NCTE in regular mode or graduation (as per NCTE rules). Additionally, the applicant must be a government teacher or govt employee working in the teaching department. The annual fee of the PSSOU BEd course is 9,800, and the medium of instruction is English.

PSSOU PhD Admissions 2025-26
Pandit Sundarlal Sharma Open University (PSSOU) is offering Ph.D programs in Hindi, Education, Psychology, Management, Library Science, Sociology, and Commerce. Candidates must pass an entrance exam conducted by the university or UGC NET, like a national-level research entrance test. Selected candidates from the entrance exam will be called for an interview.
A Master’s degree in the relevant subject with at least 55% marks, and for reserved category candidates, a minimum of 50% marks is required for PSSOU PhD admission. Detailed notifications, including exam dates and application procedures, will be announced on it’s official website.
