IGNOU Admission 2026-27: Indira Gandhi National Open University is accepting applications for the January 2026 academic cycle. The university started the admission process for all UG, PG, Diploma, Certificate, ODL, and Online courses. Students can apply for courses like BA, MA, MBA, MCA, PGDCA and more in the current session. The last date for IGNOU admission 2026-27 January session is 31 January 2026. About IGNOU University

The university got its name from India’s first female Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. It was established in 1985 with the AIM to provide equal education to all people. Initially, the university only offered admission to open and distance courses (ODL), but in 2019, it started offering Online courses from its Centre for Online Education (COE).

Indira Gandhi National Open University is recognized by the UGC, DEB, AICTE, NCTE, and more. It is accredited with the NAAC “A++” grade and the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). It is India’s #1 Open and Distance University as per NIRF Ranking 2025, which is released by the Ministry of Education (MOE).

Currently, the university offers 155+ ODL, Online, as well as some regular courses like Post Basic BSc Nursing, BEd, Integrated BEd, and PhD courses through its several regional as well as study centers. Every year, IGNOU conducts two major admission sessions: the January and July sessions. The January Session is also known as the fall session. The admission process of the university is merit-based for all courses except 3 entrance based programs.

IGNOU UG Admission 2026-27 January Session

IGNOU UG Admission 2026 January academic session is open now, and the applicants can register by going to the official website @ignou.ac.in. The People University (IGNOU) offers BA program admission in various disciplines such as Hindi, History, English, Economics, etc, for the January academic session. The MBA admission is given based on merit score at IGNOU for the January session. Applicants who have completed a bachelor’s degree are eligible to pursue an MBA program at People University (IGNOU). The application form fee is INR 300.

• PG Diploma Courses: A graduate degree in relevant stream if needed.
• Certificate Course­s: Most certificates of IGNOU require 10th grade or equivale­nt.
• BEd Course­: A bachelor’s degree­ plus two years teaching expe­rience or an education diploma is re­quired with 2 years of experience. The university also conducts an entrance test.
• PhD Course: A rele­vant master’s degree­ with at least 55% marks and an entrance te­st is needed.
